"The Difference is.....Caring"
The Difference is.....Caring" is a film made by young people reflecting the thoughts and experiences of young people who have experienced the Care System. The film comes in 4 parts and reflects a day in the life of 4 different ‘corporate parents’ who learn what young people have to say about their time in care, good and bad, as well as finding out about what really makes the difference. The end of the film also reflects the Government's proposals in Care Matters, specifically the Pledge.Instead of hiring a film company to make the film. WMTD wanted young people to be empowered and properly trained to make the film. 5 care leavers from around England were recruited as sessional workers to work full time on making the film. The young people were sent on a three day training course at the prestigious National Film and Television School learning the basics in camera and sound work. Under the expert guidance of our director Dean Puckett the young people embarked on a 6 week journey filming across England, upon completion they were also involved in the cutting and editing of the film with one of the young people also composing the entire music for the film.All of the young people and adults who appear in the film are untrained actors they are either care leavers and social care professionals and we could not have completed this project without them and our fantastic film crew.For a copy of the film please contact sharn.bowley@catch-22.org.uk
