Baselining Survey
In January - March 2007, WMTD carried out a baseline of services available to older looked after children and care leavers from their local authority's leaving care service. The anonymised data recorded from the questionnaire and interview process is available for download as an Excel chart below. The 43 participating local authorities have been grouped according to "type" of local authority.
Our sample of 43 included both rural and urban authorities. We also had examples of; City, County, Metropolitan Borough, Unitary and London borough authorities. Our thanks must go to the managers of the participating authorities for taking the time to be interviewed as well as their frankness regarding the issues their services faced 6 after the implementation of the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000.
The dataset is accompanied by a short commentary highlighting some of the issues raised by the survey.
