Yorkshire and Humberside Forum

The joint Yorkshire and Humberside Forum continues to meet bimonthly.  The work plan for this year includes four main themes.  Some of the groups are new, other, established groups are moving onto new areas of work.

  • The ETE group is taking forward the work begun with Connexions and the LSC, looking at links to further and higher education and linking with the Lifes2short project in West Yorks.
  • The accommodation group has rolled out the housing protocol template and is moving on to look at placement stability and standards including post 18 foster care/supported lodgings.
  • The well-being group is a new strand and is looking at improving health and well-being, in particular emotional well-being and CAMHS provision.  It will also explore how to improve services to young people who do not quite meet the criteria for adult services but may have multiple needs.  This group will also link with the GOYH Healthy living project and the Healthy Care standards work
  • The new practice development group will look at how to develop the way we deliver leaving care services - moving away from a Mon-Fri 9-5, casework model to more creative models.

As well as the work groups the young people’s group has continued to run, supported by Caroline Porritt and Sue Whitfield.  This group will be involved with evaluating the healthy eating project and has been working on improving consistency in expenses and incentives paid to young people. Finally, the recently formed PA Forum is now meeting bimonthly in between the manager’s meetings.
