From Care2Work one year on – Interim report highlights progress, achievements and challenges
The From Care2Work team are pleased to announce the launch of our Interim Report which reflects on the From Care2Work project.
The report highlights the project’s progress, achievements and challenges of the ten months leading to June 2010, summarising the current national picture and the vision for the year to come.
Key successes
- The past year has seen the engagement of 150 local authorities and 140 of these have already developed local work plans to improve employability of care leavers.
- At the end of May 967 employability opportunities had been created for young people either within their local authorities or by linking to local employers; and a further 929 opportunities were planned.
- In addition, we have worked with 30 national employers to create 126 opportunities in private sector and established we have recruited care experienced trainees to work directly with us to develop the programme.
We are also pleased with the firm endorsement the programme has received from the new administration.
